Fabula One is operated by PLBD Assessoria Ltda, CNPJ 15.532.405/0001-48, with its registered office at Rua Madre Carmelita 1029, Sala 01, Vila Rica, Santa Rita do Passa Quatro — SP, 13670-000, Brazil. The same company also trades as Intuame.
"We" and "us" below mean that company. "You" means whoever is using Fabula One.
You keep every right in everything you write in Fabula One. We claim no ownership, no licence to publish, no right to adapt, and no share of anything your work earns.
Many services ask you to grant them a "worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce and distribute" your content. We do not, and it is worth saying why: a screenplay is a saleable asset, and asking a writer to sign away rights in it in exchange for a text editor would be an absurd bargain.
The one permission we need is the narrow, obvious one: if you turn on backup, you are asking us to store a copy of your work and give it back to you. That is all it is for. We do not read stored screenplays, and we do not use them to train machine-learning models of any kind — ours or anybody else's.
You can take your work out at any moment, without asking: Export → Bundle gives you the whole project as ordinary files that open in any text editor, and the screenplay itself as Fountain, which other screenwriting tools read. Nothing here is designed to make leaving difficult.
Fabula One is a screenwriting application that runs in a web browser. Most of it — writing, structure, cards, characters, PDF and Fountain export — runs entirely on your own device and needs no account.
An optional account adds backup, draft history and the ability to send a draft to somebody for notes. What each part does is described in the documentation.
If you find a security problem, please tell us at privacy@fabulaone.com rather than demonstrating it on other people's data. Reports made in good faith are welcome and will not be met with legal threats.
Keep your own copies of anything you would be upset to lose. Export a bundle regularly. This is the single most useful sentence on this page.
Fabula One is provided as it is. It is early software, written and run by a very small operation, and we do not promise that it will be available, that it will be free of faults, or that data stored on our servers will never be lost. Backup reduces the chance of losing work; it does not eliminate it, and it is not a substitute for your own copies.
Browsers can also erase locally stored data on their own — when storage runs short, in private windows, or when you clear site data. That is outside our control, and it is why the export exists.
Everything is free at the time of writing, including backup. That is deliberate while the product is young.
Some parts may become paid later. If a feature you are already using starts costing money, you will be told by email in advance and given time to export your work. The writing side of the app — the editor, structure, cards, characters, import and export — is intended to stay free.
"In advance" means at least 30 days. That is long enough to export your work and decide, and saying a number is worth more than saying "reasonable notice".
You may stop at any time; exporting a bundle first is the sensible order. We may suspend or close an account that is being used to break these terms, or to harm the service or other people. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will say why and give you a chance to retrieve your work first.
We are responsible for what we do wrong. We are not responsible for lost profits, lost opportunities or the value of a screenplay, and — because this is offered free — our responsibility for anything else is limited to putting the service right.
These terms may change as the product does. Material changes will be announced by email to account holders before they take effect. Carrying on using the service after that is how you accept them; if you would rather not, export your work and stop.
These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, where we are established.
If you are using Fabula One as a consumer, nothing here takes away the protections your own country's law gives you, and you may bring a claim where you live. Brazil's Código de Defesa do Consumidor says as much for consumers here, and we are not going to argue the point with anyone else's.
